BenchPress 2025: Agency Milestones

We’ve just wrapped our latest BenchPress webinar, diving into the strategies UK agencies are using to scale up. From pricing confidence to team structure, and the surprisingly optimistic outlook for the second half of 2025, there was plenty to take in.

Growing an agency is rarely a straight line – but we’ve spotted some fascinating patterns in this year’s BenchPress data. In our latest webinar, we explored what really drives agency growth and profitability, and the decisions that make the biggest difference.

Here are a few highlights:

1. Growth takes time – and confidence

It takes, on average, 7 years to hit £1m in fee income. But things accelerate from there – most agencies hit £3m within another 3 years, and £5m after just 2 more. Confidence, case studies, and smart positioning all help to speed up growth.

2. Profit doesn’t always follow size – unless you focus on it
Blended hourly rates and Gross Profit both rise as agencies grow, but Operating Profit remains flat. Why? Larger agencies carry more operational costs – so improving profitability takes deliberate effort, not just headcount.

3. Want to grow? Step change deals and acquisitions are your best friends
