The Wow Company Announces Two Prolific Speakers at its Secrets to Success Event

On Wednesday 18th November, Andover-based Accountancy and Business Advice firm, The Wow Company will be joined by two very special speakers, Tom Ilube and Khalid Aziz for the latest instalment of Wow’s Secrets to Success series. Tom, a serial entrepreneur, is currently the CEO of online protection company, Garlik and was part of the founding team of Egg plc, while Winchester-based Khalid Aziz runs his own business, The Aziz Corporation and is also a visiting professor of Business Communications at the University of Southampton. The event will be taking place on Wednesday November 18th at The Winchester Hotel, Worthy Lane from 5pm until late. During the evening there will also be plenty of time for some relaxed networking with other ambitious entrepreneurs.

	Khalid Aziz

Born in Pakistan, Khalid Aziz became the youngest producer in the BBC for Radio Leicester and at the age of 24, the youngest presenter of a 6 o’clock BBC regional news programme, Look North Leeds. In his 12-year career with the BBC, Khalid worked on a number of current affairs and news programmes including Newsbeat and Panorama. Khalid is also an International Ambassador for the Prince’s Trust and a well-established author, publishing over ten books on business. His tenth – Presenting to Win – was the first published book of the new millennium back in January 2000.

Khalid was Chairman of the Wessex Children’s Hospice Trust between 1992 to 1997, raising over £5m for charity. He was also appointed Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order in the 1997 Queen’s Birthday Honours and in 1998, Deputy Lieutenant of Hampshire. As well as currently running The Aziz Corporation and Chairman of the Naomi Hospice in Basingstoke, Khalid is also a non-executive chairman at his business’s sister company, Accipitor.

Tom Ilube was part of the founding team of Egg plc, regarded as one of the first Internet banks in the UK and now one of the largest Internet banks in the world. Tom was the original Launch Programme Manager and later went on to become Chief Information Officer.

In 2005 Tom founded Garlik in partnership with Mike Harris, the founding CEO of Egg plc and Professor Nigel Shadbolt, former British Computer Society President. Garlik’s advisory board also includes Sir Tim Berners-Lee, regarded as the inventor of the WEB. Since their inception, Garlik has won numerous awards, including the British Computer Society BT Flagship Award for Innovation in October 2008 AND THE WORLD ECONOMIC FORUM, DAVOS 2008 TECHNOLOGY PIONEER.

Throughout Tom's 25-year career in technology, he has worked with a number of celebrated organisations, including Goldman Sachs, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, The London Stock Exchange and British Airways. Most recently, in 2008, Tom was also asked by the United Nations AGENCY, THE GENEVA-BASED ITU, to serve as a member of their High Level Expert Group on CyberSECURITY.
